OVERVIEW
For this project, I chose to write a book on nihilism. My design philosophy is to use absurd forms as the overall tone, while slowly changing the core of the design according to the content of the book. I have my own experience with nihilism, so I incorporate my own ideas into the design. At first the design concept was numb, and gradually became a little confused, then very chaotic, and finally gradually turned into yearning and hope.
Outcomes
For this project, I chose to make a book on the subject of nihilism. My design philosophy is to use absurd forms as the overall tone, while slowly changing the core of the design according to the content of the book. I have my own experience with nihilism, so I incorporate my own ideas into the design. At the beginning, the design concept was numb, gradually became a little confusing, then very confusing, and finally gradually turned into the discovery of some beautiful things in life, and found the meaning of existence in the absurd, the theme slowly turned to existentialism, and finally reconciled with everything, but Pursue more meaning, not extreme nothingness, and live like a happy pig.
In this project, I try to incorporate different voices, from bystanders to my inner cry. The text at the beginning of this book is an objective introduction to nihilism. The blue boxes and lines in the middle represent the inner self-awareness and the guidance of the beholder. I also try to add articles and poems I write. I try to put my own experience and understanding of the theme into the design. I use a lot of subjective articles written by myself to intersperse with objective articles, and use design to express my emotions in the works. This work means a lot to me.

RESEARCH
Philosophy
Nihilism is a philosophy, or family of views within philosophy, that rejects general or fundamental aspects of human existence, such as objective truth, knowledge, morality, values or meaning. Different nihilist positions hold variously that human values are baseless, that life is meaningless, that knowledge is impossible, or that some set of entities do not exist or are meaningless or pointless.
In popular use, the term commonly refers to forms of existential nihilism, according to which life is without intrinsic value, meaning, or purpose. Other prominent positions within nihilism include the rejection of all normative and ethical views, the rejection of all social and political institutions, the stance that no knowledge can or does exist, and a number of metaphysical positions, which assert that non-abstract objects do not exist, that composite objects do not exist, or even that life itself does not exist.
Visual References
I looked for some ridiculous books. I hope to express the inner struggle and pain of nihilism through the chaotic layout. But these are not completely disordered. I hope to establish a reasonable and orderly visual system under the chaotic appearance.
